Holiday gifting is a great way to thank the clients who supported your business throughout the year.
But figuring out what to send isn't always quite as easy.
Over the years, we've helped businesses send everything from a handful of client gifts to hundreds at a time. I've learned that a good place to start isn't necessarily what should we send?
It's who are we thanking and what do we want to say?
A Simple Place to Start
When we're helping someone figure out their client gifts, there are three questions that help narrow things down pretty quickly.
1. Who is receiving it?
Is the gift going to one person or an entire office? Shareable treats are great for a group, while an individual gift gives you a few more options.
2. What's your budget?
Knowing what you'd like to spend makes choosing the gift so much easier. A $40 gift and a $150 gift can both be great. They'll just look a little different.
3. What do you want to say?
Is it thank you for a great year? Are you recognizing longtime clients? Celebrating a great year together? The reason you're sending it can help guide the gift.
Local Is Always a Good Option
One thing we've seen over and over: you really can't go wrong with great local snacks and treats.
Clients enjoy trying something they may not have had before, and they appreciate knowing their gift is also supporting local makers and small businesses. We hear that from our customers all the time.
It's a gift with a little more story behind it, and that's one of the reasons we love using local products whenever we can.
Sometimes Simple Is Best
Some of the client gifts we've seen people get most excited about have been pretty simple.
Really good treats. Something useful. A favorite local product. A beautiful box with a genuine thank-you tucked inside.
And I think the message matters. A few personal words about how much you appreciate their business or your relationship can make a gift feel pretty special.
