Holiday Gift Ideas for Employees They'll Actually Enjoy
Holiday employee gifting sounds pretty simple.
Until you have 75 people to buy for.
Then come the questions. What will everyone like? Should everyone get the same thing? Do we add a logo? And how are we getting all of these gifts where they need to go?
We've helped businesses send thousands of holiday gifts over the years, and I've learned there really isn't one right way to do it. Every company and every group of employees is different.
Same Gift or Let Them Choose?
Both can work.
We've created one great gift that every employee receives, and we've also set things up so employees could build their own holiday gift from a selection of products.
I loved that option because the company was still giving everyone the same gifting experience, but employees got to choose some of the things they'd actually enjoy.
You don't have to do that, of course. Sometimes one really great gift for everyone is by far the easiest answer.
What Goes in the Gift?
This is where knowing your people helps.
Great food is always popular. Maybe it's something useful, something cozy, a great tumbler or a mix of a few things.
I've learned not to get too hung up on how many things are in the box either. I'd rather send three really good things than six things nobody is excited about.
To Logo or Not to Logo?
We like to call it subtle swag, but there's no hard and fast rule.
Sometimes a logo makes the item better. Other times a little branding goes a long way. It depends on the company, the people and what you're giving.
One Thing I Know for Sure...
December comes really fast when you work in gifting.
Starting earlier gives you more choices, especially if you want custom boxes, branded products or something made specifically for your company.
Beyond that, don't overthink it.
Know your people. Give them something they'll enjoy and tell them you appreciate them.
